This Pinot is very earthy with a fruit-forward aroma, the Hastings Ranch Pinot evokes rich flavors of apricot and plum on the palate, balanced by a finessed acidity and a lingering finish. It boasts an aged style far beyond its years, due, in large part, to 18 months barrel aging. This Pinot is a food-lover's dream. The earthiness calls for morel mushrooms, or perhaps a truffle risotto; the acidity begs to offset the richness of duck confit; and the ripe fruit on the palate is a perfect compliment to anything on the grill. At first sip you are struck by a symphony of earth and fruit with a velvety mouth feel. Being so young, the wine has a dry, tannic finish that will age out over time.
