Spring has certainly sprung up here at the winery. We just finished pre-pruning the vineyard, which is really the first step in prepping the vines for our 2008 harvest. The 2007 wines are all barreled down and it is time for the winemaking crew to take a much needed break. There are some stunning wines in barrel right now which we will be showcasing at the upcoming Wine Club Barrel Tasting. We have some great events in the works again this year -- a great cooking class series with Hands On Gourmet, Al Fresco Thursday evenings, Sunday Jazz series, and our Spring Winemaker Dinner. Stay tuned for more details.

2006 Quenneville Chardonnay
Santa Cruz Mountains
Quenneville Vineyard and Byington go back a very
long way. At one time it was also known as "Dirk" Vineyard.
The owners may have changed but the fruit continues to be some of our
favorite.
The 2006 Quenneville Chardonnay represents the
Santa Cruz Mountains perfectly. At first approach the wine reveals
a nutty aroma; and the backbone of caramelized oak that leaves you longing for
another taste. Cellar some for the next 5 years to see how it ages,
but certainly have a glass tonight as it is very approachable right
now. Buy more now.

2006 Redwood Hill Chardonnay
Santa Cruz Mountains
The Redwood Hill Chardonnay displays a beautiful vanilla aroma from the French oak and a yeastiness from sur lees aging. Stopping her eyou might think it to be a typical California Chardonnay, saturated and heavy-handed, but no, the crisp acidity is reminescent of Granny Smith apples with a luscious pear aroma to round out the nose. I think of the Redwood Hill as a sipping wine, refreshing and elegant all in wine. If you want to have more on hand to enjoy all summer long order more now.

2007 Liage
Monterey County
Take in the full aroma of the Liage, guava
and banana come to the forefront. On
the palate enjoy the contrast, the acidity from the Sauvignon Blanc and the unctuous mouth feel
from the Viogner. The two intertwine in an elegant fashion creating
this wonderfully drinkable wine. The wine is a perfect patio sipper and will sell out by summer's
end, so get your share now and cellar some for the future. Happy Sipping! Like the Liage? Buy more now.
